Journey
Youngboi OG, also known as Geraldo Gershwin Saal, emerged on the South African music scene as a figure marked by innovative resilience. Born on September 3, 2007, his journey began not with the polished tools of modern music creation but with the humble accessibility of his phone. By age 12, Geraldo was already channeling his experiences into music. His debut single 'I've Been Traumatized,' released in 2023, marked his entry into the rap genre, echoing emotional depth akin to Superstar Pride but distinguished by his candid, personal touch. His sound matured quickly, gaining notable attention in 2024 with the heart-rending 'How Can I Love?' He continued to build on this momentum with his first album, 'Metal Tears,' released in March 2025 and re-released for streaming in May. Despite constraints, his dedication to the craft shines through his ability to balance the demands of his education with a burgeoning career. Youngboi OG's story is one of raw talent and an inspired commitment to transforming personal narratives into impactful rap anthems, all while pulling from the rich cultural backdrop of his South African origins.
